Our Words of the week are: how, out, our, house, down, now, round, found
we will be exploring the "ow/ou" letter patterns this week. Can your child remember what sound ow/ou makes? Please watch the videos under the word work session and practice these words a little bit each night. Please remember that the main priority is on learning to read these words by sight and once your child becomes confident with this they can practice spelling them!
Today We:
-did literacy stations.
-had a sharing circle about our weekends.
-had a writing mini lesson where we learned about different connecting words such as "first..., next..., then...later..." that can help us to add details to our writing. We using these connecting words to add details to our journal writing by focusing on one event using the connecting words to describe at least three different details of what happened at that place.
-learned about our new word work pattern ow/ou and watched videos to help us understand this pattern.
-worked on learning our new poem of the week. It is very long and contains many different ow/ou words.
-had mindful Monday where we discussed read a book called "Even Super Heros Have Bad Days", discussed gratitude and the importance of gratitude and then had a gratitude sharing circle.
-learned a new math game called "Sumtastic" where we roll a dice six times and then practiced using addition trees to figure out the sum of all of the numbers. Try this game at home!
