Our Words of the week are:
of you to the day and all
Please practice these a little each night. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. This can be done through body spelling, chanting, making the words with play dough, drawing the words in sand and so many other fun ways!
Today we:
-were word detectives and hunted for our words of the week and other high frequency words in our poetry. Can your child be a word detective during bedtime stories and find our words of the week in the poems?
-played four square outside for gym.
-Read the book Only One You By Linda Kranz
-worked on Magic Playdough sketchbook pages where we reflected on our wishes for the school year.
-learned about subatizing in math. Subitizing is the rapid, accurate, and confident judgments of numbers performed for small numbers of items. It is a very important skill in Mathematics and one that we will be working hard on in grade one. Please watch the subatizing videos under the math section in our blog as much as possible!
-did our daily calendar time. Can your child count aloud forwards by 2's, 5's and 10's. Keep practicing this! A good tip is to count aloud together whenever you are driving in the car!
-had music with Mrs. Dennill.
-had our first library time with Mrs. Cornford. We will not have library next week due to book fair. The books taken out today will be due back on Monday September 25.
