A fall walk to observe seasonal changes has been planned for tomorrow afternoon from 12:30-2:30. We still require two volunteers for this to happen. Please email me this evening if you can join us! Please ensure that your child has appropriate layers, a large water bottle and a large afternoon snack!
Subway Fun Lunch Tomorrow!
Please pack only a morning and afternoon snack if you have ordered fun lunch.
Please gather a variety of images to collage the cover of your child's visual journals. These images can represent their favourite things, interests, memories, etc. They could be photos, magazine cut-outs, printed images, words, or drawings. Please send these images to school in a bag or envelope ASAP (these are now overdue!)
Our Words of the week are:
just, jump, must, best, went, help
Please practice these a little each night. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. This can be done through body spelling, chanting, making the words with play dough, drawing the words in sand and so many other fun ways! Please continue to review the sounds made by the short vowels by watching videos under word work on the blog and having your child show you the different sounds made by the short vowels!
Today we:
-had a community meeting where we talked about our weekends.
-read big books in groups that have word families that help us remember our short vowel sounds better.
-learned our new poem When the Leaves are on the Ground and practiced reading it with fluency and expression.
-reflected in our journals about what we are thankful for and why by completing the sentence starter "I am thankful for___________ because...
-had our daily calendar time. Can your child show you how to do seven tallies?
-did art to represent our "I can... and I can't ...yet writing.
-started to learn the reason for the seasons and made predictions about what seasonal changes we will see to show us it is fall.
In Mail Pockets:
-white field trip notice.
-fire safety flyer with activities that can be completed at home.
-white printing practice page (came home Thursday). This is a review of the flagpole letters we have been working on. Please have your child trace over each letter and then practice another one between each letter. Try to observe how tall each letter goes on the lines and print carefully to make them the same size! This homework is now overdue!
Please and Thank you:
-If you are able to help prep some things for our home reading program starting next week please come in any time!
