We will be celebrating Halloween on October 31st. You are allowed to come to school dressed in your costume. The morning will be a regular work day, and the afternoon will be reserved for a party. Please use your best judgement with costumes, and no weapons at school.
Our Words of the week are:
the, then, that, this with
Please try to practice these a little bit over the weekend. It is most important that your child is able to read these words so that they can find them on the word wall!
Today we:
-had our Friday Dance Party.
-went to the idea lab. We had a problem to solve at the idea lab. Room 10 has a bunny named Shadow who can be a bit of an escape artist! We went to Room 10 to interview Ms. Purkiss about how we can help her solve her problem. Then we wrote and drew our ideas. Have your child tell you about his/her idea. Can you give some constructive feedback on ways to improve the idea?
-met with Mike our ACAD Artist to see how the design thinking process is coming along with the stickers he is making. It was interesting to hear the changes he has made since we last saw him and his reasons for those changes.
-had French with Madame Pallesen.
-Did our smart board calendar routine. Can your child tell you how much money is made by one quarter, one nickel and one penny?
-watched and discussed a few more of the Growth Mindset videos (found in the videos section of the block).
Please and Thank you:
-A huge thank you to Luke's mom for all of her wonderful organization as room coordinator.
We could really use more volunteers each morning at 8:30-am in order to make our home reading program a success. Please let our room coordinator, Leanne Trevis know if you are able to make it in. You do not need to come each week, any day that you can make it is always appreciated!
Dear Students and family members of Prince of Wales school,
Mrs. McKay’s POWer hour is all about giving back and helping other. The first group of people that we have chosen to help live right in our city. We will be collecting winter coats, boots, hats, scarves, mitts, and snow pants that are gently used. These items will be for Syrian Refugees from Keeler school in Calgary, where Ms. Georg is now teaching. The refugees have left their homes with nothing but themselves. (Think about it if you did not have a warm winter coat walking out into the snow). Please bring in sizes for age 4 and up. Please help out! Donations can be brought to Mrs. McKay’s classroom,
Please have all donations here by November 4 2016
