Our Words of the week are:
bike, like, here, hope, made, make, take, use, peace
All of these words contain the "super E" . Can your child tell you how the Super E changes words? Please practice these a little each day. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. This can be done through body spelling, chanting, making the words with play dough, drawing the words in sand and so many other fun ways! Please continue to review the Super E by watching Super/Magic E videos under word work on the blog.
Today we:
-had a poetry party where we read aloud our favorite poems.
-did body spelling of our words of the week.
-worked on our Fort Calgary sketchbook reflections.
-watched a bunch of videos learning about the importance of Remembrance Day (found under the social studies videos)
-took part in a wonderful Remembrance Day Ceremony.
In Mail Pockets:
-Nothing new today!
Please and Thank you:
-we require volunteers for the Sandwich Foundation and our Fish Creek Ridge Walk next week. Please email our room coordinator, Laura Briggs if you can help out!
-If you are able to help around the classroom or with reading for the first half hour please let Laura Briggs (our fabulous room coordinator) know!

Nov. 1 –14 Veteran’s Food Drive
Since 2007, the Canadian Legacy Project has presented the Annual Veterans Food Drive in support of the Veterans Food Bank and the Calgary Poppy Fund. The support we have received from the Calgary community has been amazing and we have successfully filled two warehouses with food at the Calgary Veterans Food Bank annually, which equates to roughly $300,000 in food donations. As a part of this fundraising initiative we also receive cash donations which are used to purchase Calgary Co-Op food cards which veterans can use to purchase fresh produce, meats, and pharmaceutical products. A key component to the Annual Veterans Food Drive is educating our youth about the sacrifices made by our veterans. In partnership with The Calgary Board of Education (CBE), event information is sent to all schools. The CBE encourages the faculty and students to raise funds and food for the Annual Veterans Food Drive.
Dec. 4 – 15 Mayor’s Xmas Food Drive
This year will be the 29th annual food drive to support the Calgary Food Bank.
Question of the Day (Please Answer in the Comments Section): Please watch the Pittance of Time video as a family. Why is it important to observe two minutes of silence on November 11 at 11am?
