Happy Birthday to Marin this Sunday!
Four students are missing their Humane Society forms. Please return on Monday!
I'm missing seven signed report card envelopes. Please return Monday!
-we will be starting gymnastics on equipment on Monday. If your child has long hair please put their hair up. Students are welcome to wear shorts or body suits under their clothes if they would like but it is not required.
Words of the week are:
my, by, why, fly, try, happy, pretty, funny, family
All of these words contain the "sneaky, sly Y" at the end of the word. The sneaky, sly Y sneaks up and make the vowel sound at the end of words. Y says i at the end of a one beat word and Y says e at the end of a word with two or more syllables. Can your child tell you how the two sounds that y makes at the end of a word? Please practice these words a little each day. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. Please continue to review the "Y as a vowel" letter pattern videos under word work on the blog.
Today we:
-did independent reading from our reading bags *a few students did not have their bags with them. Please be sure to return bags each day in case they are needed!
-continued to explore gymnastics on mats.
-watched a Bill Nye movie about Light and Colour.
-did pages in our visual journals demonstrating our understandings of the difference between Opaque and Transparent objects.
-did our daily numeracy time. Can your child count aloud by 2's to 20?
-continued to practice one more/one less than a number. Please play some games to practice this if you have a chance!
In Mail Pockets:
Nothing new today!
Please and Thank you:
-a huge thank you to Abigail's mom for coming in to update the sight word cards today. She updates these each Wednesday and Friday. Please be sure to send your child's sight word cards in his/her home reading bag on these days.

Question of the day (Please answer in the comments section): What was your favourite part of gymnastics this week?
Message from Mrs. Bezugley:
Parents we need your help.
Please DO NOT stop in our bus zone anytime between the hours of 7:00 and 4:00.
With the cold weather and field trips we have busses arriving at different times throughout the day. If you are dropping off students late or picking up early, please DO NOT use the bus zone. There is a 20 minute loading zone closer to our parking lot. We have struggled this week with parents parking or stopping in the bus zone preventing our busses from parking safely.
Please encourage your children to use the crosswalks. Running across the street in this slippery weather is very dangerous.
Please choose safety over convenience.
Thank you for your help to keep everyone safe.
Nicole Bezugley
