We had such a busy week last week that we didn't get much time for word work. We will continue to review the long o letter patterns from last week. Words of the week are:
oat, goal, toe, below, know, go, so, no, snow, rainbow, show
All of these words contain the long o sounds, in different forms. We discussed the rule "when two vowels go walking the first one does the talking and says his name" This rule can be seen in the words containing oe or oa. We also learned that ow has two sounds...this week we are focusing on the long o sound made by ow. Can your child tell you how the sound made by oe, oa and ow? Please practice these words a little each day. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. Please continue to review the long o letter pattern videos under word work on the blog.
