we will be exploring the "right/ite letter patterns this week. Can your child remember what sound right/ite all make? Please watch the videos under the word work session and practice these words a little bit each night. Please remember that the main priority is on learning to read these words by sight and once your child becomes confident with this they can practice spelling them!
Today We:
-had literacy stations.
-had a sharing circle to share about our weekend.
-wrote journals. We had a special focus on trying to add punctuation to the ends of our sentences. Have your child write a few sentences for you at home. Where does the punctuation go? Why does it go there?
-learned about our new letter pattern.
-practicing dribbling basketballs in gym.
-learned our new poem of the week "Zite and my Kite" and practiced reading it with expression and fluency.
-had our science school orientation all afternoon with MoMo from Science School. We got to try out several experiments and did some journaling reflections about what we had done.
In our mail pockets
Nothing new-please return poetry books tomorrow if you have not done so already.
Please and Thank you
Rekenreks are an excellent manipulative, visual math tool that help children develop efficient and flexible number sense. Students will be crafting their own in upcoming weeks! If you have some available, please send in large(ish), flat pieces of cardboard. The fronts and backs of cereal boxes are perfect for this. Thank you for your help with our math crafting!
I would also very much appreciate a volunteer or two to help glue, duct tape, and hole punch foam mats once the cardboard is collected. I will provide all materials and this can be a take home volunteer project. Thanks very much for considering!
