good, look, spooky, food, too, cool, soon
All of these words follow the oo pattern. Can your child tell you the two sounds made by oo ? Please practice these a little each night. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. This can be done through body spelling, chanting, making the words with play dough, drawing the words in sand and so many other fun ways! Please continue to review the sounds made by the oo pattern by watching the oo videos under word work on the blog.
Today we:
-practiced our big books.
-read our poems of the week "I'm a Little Pumpkin" and "Five Little Pumpkins". We practiced reading them many times for fluency and expression.
-watched some of the oo videos on the blog.
-started our week long pumpkin inquiry by brainstorming questions that we have about pumpkins (we came up with 36 questions about pumpkins!) and practicing sketching pumpkins.
-had our daily numeration practice. Can your child count aloud by 2's to 20?
-had a library book exchange. If your child forgot their book he/she can return it later this week! Please try to remember to return books each Monday.
-had music with Mrs. Dennill.
-had mindful Monday, where we learned about parts of the brain and how the different parts of the brain affect our body.
