-we learned and practiced our new poem of the week, "Numbers, Numbers".
-For word work this week we are continuing to work on the short vowel sounds. Check out the video section to watch the new short vowel video that we watched as a class today. Ask your child to tell you which sound each of the short vowels make. Can they name a word that starts with each of the short vowel sounds? Our words of the week are: it, at, up, on, get. Please help your child by practicing these words a little bit at home each evening.
For printing this week we are practicing the Half Moon Letters- c, a, d, g, q. We call them half moon letters because all of these letters start with a half moon and then turn into other letters. We start all these letters from the top and make a belly to the left. Each letter is made using only one stroke (i.e. the pencil does not lift off the paper).
In gym we played a two new games-doubles tag and zombie tag.
In math we explored the number 4 and many different ways to make the number four.
We had a Mindful Monday 'superstorm' with our other grade one friends to experience mindful tasting. We discovered that things taste better and we feel more relaxed when we slow down and use all 5 senses to enjoy food!
After such hard work today we ended our day with some free centers.

Question of the day: (Please answer in the comments section)-We enjoyed our mindful tasting activity today! Like scientists, we took time to observe our grapes (and 1 smartie!) with our senses of sight, touch, smell, hearing, and of course taste. Can you teach your family mindful eating? What food did you try with, and what did you notice or observe?
