Our Words of the week are:
just, jump, must, best, went, help
Please practice these a little each night. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. This can be done through body spelling, chanting, making the words with play dough, drawing the words in sand and so many other fun ways! Please continue to review the sounds made by the short vowels by watching videos under word work on the blog and having your child show you the different action made by the short vowels!
Today we:
-Practiced reading our word family big books in groups of four, we read them several times to develop fluency!
-were word detectives and hunted for words of the week in our weekly poem.
-watched some of the seasonal changes videos under the science section of the blog and discussed the reason for the seasons.
-continued to work on our I Can/I Can't YET artwork using watercolor pencils.
-spent all afternoon on a fall walk where we sketched signs of fall and a fall tree and collected leaves.
In Mail Pockets:
No new mail today!
-white printing practice page (came home Thursday). This is a review of the flagpole letters we have been working on. Please have your child trace over each letter and then practice another one between each letter. Try to observe how tall each letter goes on the lines and print carefully to make them the same size! This homework is now overdue!
Please and Thank you:
-a huge thank you to Evan's mom and Levi's mom for joining us on the fall walk!
-If you are able to help prep some things for our home reading program starting next week please come in any time!
