It was so wonderful to have such warm greetings from your kids today as I returned from my teacher's conference! I was at a conference called Bridging The Hearts and Minds of Youth with a group of five of us from our school. We learned many wonderful ideas that we are excited to incorporate into our classrooms and school!
Important Information
Please be certain to return visual journals and pencils tomorrow!
-Please return yellow family traditions notice if you have not had a chance to do so already.
-Please return form for field trip to The Atria Retirement Residence next Tuesday February 13.
-we will be doing a class valentine exchange next Wednesday February 14 in the morning. Students are not required to bring Valentines but if they choose to exchange please make sure that they bring 19 for each member of our class and do not address them to individual students. Instead, they can write "To my friend" or "To my classmate" or leave the name section blank.
Words of the week are:
sing, bring, going, sang, sung, long, song, length
This week we are discussing the sound made by ng in words. What happens to ng when we add a vowel in front of it? Please practice these words a little each day. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. Please continue to review the ng letter pattern videos under word work on the blog.
Today we:
-had a wonderful off-site experience at the Calgary Symphony Orchestra and enjoyed a down town walk and tour afterwards. We enjoyed lunch at Devonian Gardens and did some sketching of our sensory observations there after lunch, and enjoyed some time on the play structure there.
In Mail Pockets:
-February book orders (came home last week-many of the free book coupons sent home in holiday cards have not been returned yet. If your child has not spent theirs yet, please apply it to this order!)
Please and Thank you!
-Thank you to Evan's Mom and William's mom for joining us on the field trip.
