Tomorrow is Walking Wednesday. Please walk or ride to school tomorrow so you can enter your name in the draw.
We will be celebrating Halloween on October 31st. You are allowed to come to school dressed in your costume. The morning will be a regular work day, and the afternoon will be reserved for a party. Please use your best judgement with costumes, and no weapons at school.
The picture day order forms are due in the office tomorrow, October 19. If you prefer, you can place your order online and look at the many different backgrounds available for your photos.
Today We:
-were word detectives and hunted for words of the week in our poems.
-did sketchbook pages about the Evidence of Fall that we have observed and learned about.
-practiced our printing on gel bags. This week we are working on the goofy letters- e, u, o, s and f. Ask your child to tell you which sounds each of these letters makes and whether it is a turtle letter, giraffe letter or worm letter?
-started soccer skills in gym. We practiced the skill of dribbling and we practiced controlling the ball by dribbling on the lines. We ended gym with a game of Red Light, Green Light Soccer.
-Did our calendar. Due to technical difficulties we practiced the calendar on whiteboards. Please continue practicing how to read the date from a calendar.
-had music with Mrs. Dennill.
-we met our new ACAD artist. His name is Mike. We looked at pictures of "Socks the Cat". He is a sticker that we will be able to buy to use on iMessage soon.
-had PoWer Hour. In PoWer Hour we:
-learned that there has never been a WWIII in Canadian Soldiers. We watched a video about all of the mud that there is during wars.
-did scissor painting with Ms. Lauf where we cut out paper to make pictures.
-played telephone and games and made dresses in restyled.
-played survival in Minecraft.
-sketched trees and played Camouflage in Nature Explorations.
-learned how do a side kick in Thai Kwon Do.
-decided to start a warm coat, boot, scarf and mitten drive in the Giving Hearts PoWer Hour. We made posters to hang around the school and messages for blogs.
Please and Thank you:
-A HUGE thank you to Becca's Mom and Carys' Mom for coming in to help with reading. Our sight word rings are almost ready to go and Home Reading will hopefully begin in the next few days.
We could really use more volunteers each morning at 8:30-am in order to make our home reading program a success. Please let our room coordinator, Leanne Trevis know if you are able to make it in. You do not need to come each week, any day that you can make it is always appreciated!
Dear Students and family members of Prince of Wales school,
Mrs. McKay’s POWer hour is all about giving back and helping other. The first group of people that we have chosen to help live right in our city. We will be collecting winter coats, boots, hats, scarves, mitts, and snow pants that are gently used. These items will be for Syrian Refugees from Keeler school in Calgary, where Ms. Georg is now teaching. The refugees have left their homes with nothing but themselves. (Think about it if you did not have a warm winter coat walking out into the snow). Please bring in sizes for age 4 and up. Please help out! Donations can be brought to Mrs. McKay’s classroom,
Please have all donations here by November 4 2016
