Happy Halloween everyone!
Our Words of the week are:
spooky, moon, food, cool boo, good, look, too, soon, took, book, school
All of these words contain the oo pattern. Can your child tell you the two sounds made by oo ? Please practice these a little each night. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. This can be done through body spelling, chanting, making the words with play dough, drawing the words in sand and so many other fun ways! Please continue to review the sounds made by the oo pattern by watching the oo videos under word work on the blog.
Today we:
-were word detectives and hunted for our words of the week in poetry.
-baked some Healthy Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins together! During this baking experience we learned all about fractions and what the different cups and spoons mean. Can your child tell you the meaning of 1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4? How many cups does it take of each one to make a whole cup? Each student brought home copies of two pumpkin muffin recipes. Today we made the healthy ones without any sugar and they were delicious! Perhaps you could try both at home and see if you can taste the difference.
-did a Halloween sing a long with Mrs. Morin's dad Paulo Finkleman.
-enjoyed all of the treats brought in.
