Please gather a variety of images to collage the cover of your child's visual journals. These images can represent their favourite things, interests, memories, etc. They could be photos, magazine cut-outs, printed images, words, or drawings. Please send these images to school in a bag or envelope ASAP (these are now overdue!)
Our Words of the week are:
just, jump, must, best, went, help
Please practice these a little each night. It is most important that they can be recognized by sight to read them. Once your child can read them please practice spelling them. This can be done through body spelling, chanting, making the words with play dough, drawing the words in sand and so many other fun ways! Please continue to review the sounds made by the short vowels by watching videos under word work on the blog and having your child show you the different action made by the short vowels!
Today we:
-started our day with music with Mrs. Dennill.
-circled our words of the week in our poetry.
-continued working on our "I can...I can't YET" art
-continued to work on subatizing numbers to 10. Remember that practice makes progress ! The more your child practices subatizing the ten frames the better they will get. Visualization is the first step in numeracy and the better they are at visualizing the math the better their numeracy will be.
Had our first PoWer Hour. In PoWer Hour we:
-made trail mix in cooking!
-got our nails painted and learned about how to do hair in cosmetology.
-checked the lego sets in Lego Windstorms.
-talked about what it means to be in The School of Rock.
-picked nicknames and learned about Growth Mindset in PoWer Kids.
-played card games in card minnows. I played war, Uno and Go Fish!
-had a presentation from our Occupational Therapist and Physical therapist about how to effectively use our regulation station.
In Mail Pockets:
Halloween Dance Notice
-white printing practice page (came home Thursday). This is a review of the flagpole letters we have been working on. Please have your child trace over each letter and then practice another one between each letter. Try to observe how tall each letter goes on the lines and print carefully to make them the same size! This homework is now overdue!
Please and Thank you:
