-We started our morning with reviewing the ways we can all be good readers during independent reading time at the start of grade one. We can be good readers by looking at the pictures for clues of what is happening in the story and by being word detectives and searching for words we know (like the words of the week) in books. Perhaps you could try this at story time tonight. Can your child tell you what is happening in the story from the pictures and find the words of the week in the story.
-during poetry we found the rhyming words in our weekly poem and circled them in purple. We also found the periods and commas. We circled periods in red and commas in yellow. Ask your child to tell you what the period means and what the comma means? Why did we circle them in red and yellow?
-We continued to practice printing our flagpole letters. Ask your child to share their printing with you!
-we had music with Mrs. Dennill.
-We had our first library time with Mrs. Cornford. Our regular library time will be every Thursday at 1:30. Be try to remember to bring your books back at this time.
-we explored the number three in math and worked on demonstrating and representing 3 in all different ways.
-We had a catch up time where we worked to try and finish our "I choose to be..." and self portrait sketchbook pages.
