Please try to practice these a little bit each night. It is most important that your child is able to read these words so that they can find them on the word wall!
Today We:

-went on a sound hunt where we found as many words as we could with the "th" sound.
-practiced printing our Goofy Letters in salt.
-had our second fire drill of the year.
-Did a Grade One Superstorm where we started to learn about First Nations people of Canada. Can your child tell you who the First Nations people are? We read the book Claire and her Grandfather to learn all about the contributions that Aboriginal People have made to Canada. You can check out the online version of this book and many fun activities to go with this book at:

Please and Thank you:
-A HUGE thank you to Connor's Mom and Barnaby's Mom for kicking off our Home Reading Program this morning! A Huge thank you to Connor's Mom and Becca's Mom for volunteering to help with our Colour Kit Centres this afternoon!

Dear Students and family members of Prince of Wales school,
Mrs. McKay’s POWer hour is all about giving back and helping other. The first group of people that we have chosen to help live right in our city. We will be collecting winter coats, boots, hats, scarves, mitts, and snow pants that are gently used. These items will be for Syrian Refugees from Keeler school in Calgary, where Ms. Georg is now teaching. The refugees have left their homes with nothing but themselves. (Think about it if you did not have a warm winter coat walking out into the snow). Please bring in sizes for age 4 and up. Please help out! Donations can be brought to Mrs. McKay’s classroom,
Please have all donations here by November 4 2016
